A tribal society with over 1,700 tribes — Yemen remains one of the least-reached countries in the world.
The Arabs from the Arabian Peninsula are considered the original Arabs. Arabian culture was developed by tribes of nomads and villagers in the Arabian Desert — from there, Arab migrations began, eventually leading to the expansion of the Arab world as we know it today.
The majority of Yemeni Arabs still live in fortress-like villages designed to be easily defended. Yemeni Arab society is tribal in structure with over 1,700 different tribes. Despite Islamic teachings, different social classes persist.
In many Muslim countries, those who profess faith in Jesus Christ can face death. This may explain why there are fewer than 5,000 known Yemeni believers in Yemen at the present time.
Ask the Lord to call people who are willing to reach out and share the love of Christ with the Yemeni Arabs.
Pray that God will raise up faithful intercessors who will stand in the gap for the Yemeni Arabs.
Ask God to give Yemeni Arab believers opportunities to share the love of Christ with their own people.
Pray that their traditional Muslim culture will soften, creating open doors for the Gospel to be preached among them.
Pray that God will raise up teams from South Africa to find ways to stay long-term among the Yemeni Arabs.
